
Facility
and personnel changes caused telecom billing and service errors
to go undetected
Our clients
frequently "know" there are problems with their billing, but they
can't always put their finger on the problems because they don't
have the resources or tools to perform the required analysis.
A
recent TelAssess audit for a US airline client tackled that very
issue. The client had undergone recent facility changes,
as well as telecom department turnover. The new director
needed to validate and correct his company's telecom expenses quickly.
As a result, he contracted with TelAssess for our Baseline Audit
and Recovery services.
Within 90 days
we were able to identify billing and contract errors and arrange
for credits and savings of more than $300,000. Large errors
were found in DS1 discount calculations, LD rates, LEC services
and regulatory charges.
In addition
to overpayments for billing errors, almost every audit yields additional
savings by modifying and/or canceling circuits and services.
Our airline
client was able to generate significant savings in those areas as
well. We identified unnecessary circuits they could cancel, arranged
for price reductions with vendors, and corrected improperly selected
LD vendors that were billing at higher than contracted rates.
A number of
significant findings are still pending on this audit, including
taxation errors and other refundable overcharges. We look forward
to adding to the total savings we have already generated for this
